He specializes in structural engineering with a focus on steel structures, bridge behavior, and seismic design. Prior to joining Fort Lewis College, Dr. Lee completed his Ph.D. and postdoctoral research at the University of California, San Diego, where he conducted large-scale experimental and computational studies on gusset plate buckling and seismic performance of steel connections. His research integrates advanced testing, finite element modeling, and code evaluation to improve the safety and resilience of civil infrastructure. Dr. Lee is passionate about undergraduate education and is committed to mentoring students through both classroom instruction and hands-on research. He looks forward to collaborating with colleagues and students to advance practical and impactful engineering solutions.
