This space, last overhauled in 2024, features a QSC control touch panel mounted on the new podium allowing for easy volume; projector, and camera controls. Facing the students is a large white board, on which the room's projector can display. At the back of the room, mounted to the wall between two windows, is a QSC controlled PTZ camera. Additionally this space features an MXL analog microphone at the podium, and eight 43" LG TVs mounted above the tables. This space is fully Zoom capable.
Some of our classrooms have additional TV screens on the side or at the back of the room. Many times there is a camera near the additional screens. With this arrangement, if there are remote students joining the class, they can be seen on the back TVs. When the professor looks at that screen, the relative position of the camera makes the remote student feel like the professor is looking at them.
With Schlessman Family Hall, the CATS team has been able to start constructing our own modern podiums using the QSYS AV system. The newest podiums come in two sizes:

Q-SYS is a programmable AV Control platform. The CATS team has two Q-SYS certified AV engineers on staff, allowing us to troubleshoot, redesign, and adapt the room's control panel.
Starting with Schlessman in 2023, Q-SYS has become the new standard system for controlling the equipment in the teaching space.
The Q-SYS PTZ cameras are positioned to capture the podium area. These cameras are controlled from the Q-SYS Touch Panel Controller on the podium. The PTZ designation stands for Pan, Tilt, and Zoom allowing for repositioning of the view.
