Stephen Sellers
Graduate Intern

Stephen is a first-year graduate student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Adams State University. Before beginning his journey as a counselor-in-training, he spent a decade as a high school humanities teacher in Durango, where he cultivated a deep appreciation for story, identity, the power of human connection and exploring what makes life meaningful.

Outside the counseling room, Stephen is a musician, DJ, filmmaker, and freelance writer—creative practices that inform his relational and strengths-based approach to therapy. He currently serves on the board of The Hive, a Durango-based non-profit that provides outreach to underserved youth through skateboarding, snowboarding, and raucous punk music shows. He is especially drawn to working with emerging adults, creatives, and anyone navigating major life transitions. His emerging practice is rooted in warmth, curiosity, and respect for each person’s lived experience.

Stephen believes healing happens in relationship and he strives to co-create spaces where people feel safe enough to explore vulnerability, resilience, and meaning on their own terms.
