Below, you'll find important dates and deadlines to to guide you through the Fort Lewis College campus housing and dining application and move-in process.

Students on move-in day

Spring 2026

January 8 First-year and transfer students move-in Check-in: Thursday, January 8 from 10 am – 4 pm in Skyhawk Station 118
January 10 Continuing and returning students move-in Halls re-open on Saturday for continuing students returning from winter break and incoming returning students. Staff will be available in the halls for support from 10 am – 2 pm Saturday and Sunday if you need key or card access.
February 2 Academic year 2026-27 housing application opens for continuing and returning students Application opens at 9:00 am
February 16 Academic year 2026-27 housing application opens for first year and transfer students Application opens at 9:00 am
March 2 Summer 2026 housing application opens Application opens at 9:00 am
March 17-21 Spring break Residence halls remain open

Housing & Dining application timelines

Incoming first-year, transfer, & returning students  

  • February 16: Housing application opens at 9:00 am. 
  • May 15: Students who apply and have confirmed admission between February 16 and May 1 will be able to view their housing assignment and roommate details in the housing portal.  
  • June 15: Second round of housing assignments will be available in the housing portal. 
  • July 15: Third round of housing assignments will be available in the housing portal.  
  • July 15 - Semester Start: Applications received after July 15 will receive their housing assignment as spaces become available.  

Continuing students  

  • February 2: Housing application opens at 9:00 am.  
  • March 9: Students who apply for housing between February 2 and March 9 will receive their room selection time slot for the week of March 23.  
  • Week of March 23: Students with a time slot can access room selection in the housing portal. Time slots remain open until April 13.  
  • March 23: Fall class registration opens!  
  • April 1: Housing application re-opens for the waitlist 
  • May 5: Deadline to register for classes to keep your housing assignment  
  • May-Semester Start: Applications received after the March room selection will be waitlisted and placed by Student Housing based on application date and room preferences listed in the housing application. Placements will be sent out as space becomes available. 
  • May 31: Deadline to cancel your housing assignment with NO FEE 
  • June 30: Cancellations received between June 1-June 30 incur a $100 cancellation fee 
  • July 31: Cancellations received between July 1-July 31 incur a $250 cancellation fee 
  • August 1-Fall Move-In: Cancellations received after August 1 incur a $350 cancellation fee

How does the application process work?

All students are assigned housing placements by Fort Lewis College Student Housing.

 Room placement

What should I expect for the room placement process?

Placements are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, taking into account your room and hall preferences and the lifestyle questions in the housing application. Your housing assignment and roommate information will be emailed to your Fort Lewis College email address.

Placements will be sent by mid-December.

 Fees & deadlines

Fee assessment date

Early-December

Housing charges are applied to student accounts.

Cancellation deadline

Cancellations received after November 30 are subject to a $100 cancellation fee.

Summer 2026 Housing

  • March 2: Housing application opens at 9:00 am.
  • Late March: Housing assignments will be available to view in the housing application portal. 
  • April 15: Deadline to cancel your housing assignment with NO FEE. Cancellations received after this date incur a $100 fee.
  • May 19: Deadline to register for classes to remain in summer housing (at least one class is required unless you meet the other eligibility criteria).
