Alumna shares inspiration of theatre through teaching

Natalie Benally’s theatre career has come full circle. When she was a teenager, her high school did not even offer drama courses. Now, she teaches in its brand-new theatre arts program. In order to complete this cycle, her career intersected with Fort Lewis College—twice.

Head football coach John L. Smith resigns; Rifilato takes the reins

John L. Smith has resigned as head football coach from Fort Lewis College, announced today by Director of Athletics Gary Hunter.  Defensive coordinator Ed Rifilato has been promoted to head coach. Smith has accepted the head coaching position at Kentucky State University (NCAA Division II) in Frankfort, Kentucky.

Challenged athletes challenge Exercise Science students to grow and care

Four dozen athletes push their backpacks and water bottles against the wall. Brightly colored cones and bean bags are spread around the wooden gym floor. The goal of the day’s activities are not immediately apparent to an outside observer, but one woman is clearly in charge. Cathy Simbeck, professor of Exercise Science, paces the gym with several stopwatches around her neck.
