ܽƵ professor wins Colorado Book Award for outdoors adventure anthology

Environmental Studies and History Professor Andrew Gulliford has won a 2015 Colorado Book Award for his anthology Outdoors in the Southwest: An Adventure Anthology. The book took the prize in the Anthology category at the awards, presented June 21 at the Aspen Institute's Doerr-Hosier Center, in Aspen.

The ܽƵ Climbing Team, Fort Lewis College's newest club sport, reached great heights this year in its first year of competition. The team competes in the USA Climbing’s collegiate division in male and female speed climbing, sport climbing, and bouldering events for both individual and team scores.

Wilderness-minded seniors graduate out-of-doors with Outdoor Pursuits [PHOTOS]

Now this is a wilderness-style graduation! That's not to say the walk down the stage in Whalen Gymnasium isn't lovely and powerful. But some graduates like to go out the same way they spent a good chunk of their time while at ܽƵ: Rafting down a river, camping in the wilderness, and hanging with good friends who like the to do same.

Cycling mania takes over Durango [PHOTOS]

Fort Lewis College was a prominent presence at the 44th annual Iron Horse Bicycle Classic over Memorial Day Weekend, May 23, 24, and 25. It made for a festive weekend of riders riding and spectators cheering in and around the already cycling-crazy town of Durango. The ܽƵ campus also hosted the Morehart Murphy Subaru Circuit Race and the Mountain Bike Specialists Cross Country Race.
