The Sustainability Summit is your chance to learn about what’s happening both at ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵ and in our broader region when it comes to sustainability issues and progress, and an opportunity to connect with regional sustainability organizations.
We’re gathering this year to connect with around 25 community organizations who will be sharing job, internship, volunteer, and advocacy opportunities. In addition, students and community members will have the opportunity to learn about updates on campus sustainability efforts and projects.
Our keynote presentation at this year summit will spotlight the , a comprehensive initiative facilitated by the to develop a five-year roadmap of where we as the residents, organizations, businesses, and governments of La Plata County can focus our respective efforts to build a more resilient food system in La Plata County. The summit will share insights from recent community listening sessions, highlight the diverse stakeholders shaping La Plata’s food future, and present opportunities for you to plug in to this effort. With an estimated 10–25% of La Plata County residents and nearly half of Fort Lewis College students experiencing food insecurity, this plan arrives at a critical moment for our community.
We’ll also hear about the work being done from Fort Lewis Campus Food Sustainability and Equity promoters:
